According to a national study carried out earlier this year, 65% of social housing fire doors fail safety standards[1].
This worrying data gives us even greater cause to raise awareness around the critical role of fire doors through initiatives like Fire Door Safety Week, established by British Woodworking Federation.
Outdated models aside, if a fire door is poorly installed or maintained its effectiveness in containing a fire can be seriously limited. This is why our expert operatives have specialist training around passive fire solutions. Their knowledge and expertise enable us to provide the correct specification, installation, inspection and maintenance services for every property we work in.
Along with raising awareness around passive fire safety in general, we want to encourage everyone to take responsibility for checking the condition of their fire doors this Fire Door Safety Week. This shared responsibility plays a vital role in ensuring fire doors are well maintained. By regularly checking and reporting fire doors that are not operating correctly or are no longer in a satisfactory state, we can intervene and make the necessary improvements, supporting any existing programme of planned maintenance.
At AJS, passive fire safety is a key part of what we do. Our specialist operatives are trained to deliver fire door installation, maintenance and inspection services, supported by our BM TRADA third-party certification and robust quality assurance procedures.
