Customer Service Excellence for Croydon

While delivering quality property improvements and safety tests is central to our work, so too is ensuring customers feel safe, informed, and respected while work is taking place.

As part of our contract with Croydon Council, we have been upgrading fire safety systems within their sheltered extra care schemes and carrying out fire safety checks, which require us to work around vulnerable adults.

To ensure residents feel as comfortable as possible around our team, we employ dedicated fire safety engineers to carry out the regular checks within the six sheltered extra care homes that we work in. This enables residents to become familiar with our team so that they feel safe when our team is working within their home. We also ensure the staff based at these 24-hour supported homes are fully informed about what we are doing and when, so that they can notify residents about our work schedules.

A representative from Croydon Council commented on our work:

“It’s really important that any improvements or safety checks in our sheltered extra care blocks are carried out thoughtfully. Fire safety work is essential, but we also have to make sure we’re supporting our vulnerable residents and making the process as reassuring as possible. We really appreciate the way AJS works with us to keep our staff informed and help residents feel comfortable and supported while the work is happening.”

AJS has been working with Croydon Council and this group of sheltered extra care schemes for over 10 years now. Our team carries out weekly fire alarm tests, monthly checks of emergency lighting, annual lighting protection, and dry rise tests, as well as bi-annual checks of the sprinkler systems and planned improvement works.
